Well it has been such a roller coaster week for the people of Egypt. It looks like their fearlessness paid off for the good of all. One of the great things that the Google Executive from Egypt said on CNN yesterday;
“I firmly believed we would win, once you break the psychological barrier of fear, once the fear is broken then you can convince the people. It is much better to die for a good cause than to live your life without dignity. Then you can be sure you will win!” Wael Ghonim
I have a really good friend for about a year and half, she lives in Cairo, she is an executive in the communications industry. She is very intelligent, has several degrees, and her husband is a successful business man all over the world. I believe her father was an Egyptian Diplomat. She has taught me so much about love and tolerance, and truly that at our core we are all ONE and not much different. We still love entertainment, we have tears, joy, pressure, and love our families and friends very much. You see she is Muslim. We greet each other in our own way when we speak. She is such an amazing person, I thank God I have had the opportunity to get to know people from all over the world through Facebook.
You see my journey to the Kingdom mindset started when I moved out of the bible belt. We moved to the metro Detroit area with my whole family almost 11 years ago. What a culture shock but wow what an amazing opportunity to have friends from so many backgrounds, cultures, and even faiths. My wife and family live 3 miles from the largest Muslim Community in the United States, and possibly the Western world outside of the Middle East; Dearborn Michigan. All of our gas station owners, are from the Middle East, as well as the convenient stores. We frequent them almost daily, and they have become pretty good friends of ours. I learned there is a big Chaldean community which are the Christians in Iraq. It is just that you don’t hear a lot of these stories. Ann and I have had some amazing help from the foreign doctors the most. I actually prefer them if I have a choice.
Back to the update: This was my friends post today on Facebook:
“To see the excitement and hope in my daughter’s eyes.. to hear her talk “politics” and how she wants to be a part of the NEW Egypt and what she CAN do and WANTS to do… to see her enthusiasm as she sweeps and cleans in Tahrir today … I tell you this – this revolution has educated and brought out a generation we need to learn from…my total respect to all those who stood for the 25th of January… I salute you!”
I have to tell you a story we talked yesterday evening after Mubarak stepped down. “I was so happy for her and the people of Egypt”, I said. She asked me a question, “So what are people saying over there in America?” I told her all that I knew. I said, “Well to be honest for the most part they are happy for you but afraid it may turn into the same situation as the Iran Revolution in the past. I also said, it is my understanding that on CNN they said that the Brotherhood of Islam group for the most part is the oldest organized group, and they only number about 10 percent of those in the square.” I told her,” But on some of the other media that are projecting fear that the Brotherhood of Islam is plotting to take over.”
To finish my conversation with my friend in Egypt. She said, “Well to be truthful I have been to the square many times bringing supplies, and I tell you the truth the Brotherhood of Islam is a very small faction. As a matter of fact this movement is about the people and 30 years of injustice and it is not being ran or organized by any one group or religion. It is not about Islam, or Muslims, or secular beliefs it is about the PEOPLE of EGYPT period.” She then told me a story that I am sure I will never forget. She said, “I want to tell you what I saw last Friday at the square as I brought supplies.” While the safety of the Protesters was in jeopardy, “I saw Christians surrounding the Muslim brothers as they were praying on Friday. Then when I went back on Sunday to bring supplies, I saw the Muslims surrounding the Church in Egypt for protection while the Christians could have their service!”
So all I can say is wow… what a Kingdom concept…May God the Father of us all bless us ALL!
