1 Samuel 30:6 …David *encouraged himself in the Lord His God
I know it doesn’t sound very exciting and encouraging but there is an amazing opportunity when we face hardships, for change. I venture to say internal conflict may be one of the most valuable seasons in our lives, for it forces us to see ‘ourselves’ make changes and move on. I have been on a 6 month consecration and I haven’t heard or learned this much in all of my life put together. The constant thought I have been hearing over and over in my Spirit is, “Internal crisis – is God’s invitation for true Change!”
There is a thought through folklore that the word crisis in Chinese is ‘Wei-Chi’. Which interpreted means one of two things, a great danger, or a wonderful opportunity. It is such an ambiguous word. In our time of internal ‘crisis’ we will view it as a horrific danger, or an amazing opportunity to arise. One person that really motivates me is Crystal Andrus, she is an amazing woman, and coach. This is sort of an exerpt from her blog, and the SWAT Institute.
In the Movie the Lion King is a great story about what I’m talking about. The King of the pride was Mufasa and he was killed by his cruel brother Scar, But Scar blames the whole thing on Simba the son and heir of the Kingdom. Simba runs away from his inheritance and responsibility. He meets up with two funny characters Timon and Pumbaa and they teach him a new song in life, ‘Hakuna Matata’. Which interpreted means No Worries!
Well we all know how that ends up, the temporary relief from running from your issues is a temporary fix. At some point you will have to face the music and conquer the thing that is keeping you from your true purpose and destiny. It’s not always easy to face our fears and insecurities. But it necessary to make it all the way to your promised destiny. I like in the movie while Simba is running around in a strange land as a vagabond, he is confronted with a vision of His Father in the clouds. The ‘Great Spirit – His Father ‘tells Simba, “Remember who you are!” This is all he needs to get back to reclaim the Kingdom of his father, his rightful place!
What is that you need to face to take your rightful place and claim your inheritance. A lot of people view destiny and purpose like a lottery ticket! At seasons of their lives they get serious about it, but if nothing breaks open they give up, until they ‘Buy’ another ticket. But destiny isn’t a lottery ticket, it’s an inheritance that ONLY YOU CAN CLAIM! But you cant receive it with all of the issues of the past regrets. We have all held on to things for way too long!
The internal crisis is nothing more than an opportunity to face these fears once and for all! What is it holding you back from going after your purpose wholeheartedly without regret or wavering?
– past childhood failures or trauma
– bitterness from relationships gone bad
– anger at a person who is presently mistreating us or hurt us
– guilt from promises we have not kept / or frustration from those not kept by others
– toxins from too much fleshly indulgence
– total overwhelmed from too much going on, and just can’t organize
– Regret from the “woulda, shoulda, coulda, and if Ida?”
What ever the situation is, this is the year to get things cleared up and setting on the right path! You know I always heard the secret to eating something as huge as an elephant! You can eat it one bite at a time! Don’t focus on the elephant, focus on the next bite! Before you know it the whole thing is gone! King David was in this very situation! In 1 Samuel 30 while at Ziglak (which means poverty, lack, frustration) he lost everything! The mighty men were so upset they actually wanted to kill him. So much for all of the great things David did for them. It’s funny we are so shocked when this happens, but its God’s way of getting you to the next level. I mean honestly, the very same people who shouted ‘Hosanna to the King’, were the very same people some time later that shouted, “Crucify Him!” So we must be prepared for it, and know how to handle it! Just look at it as an opportunity for internal house cleaning.
David encouraged himself!
*Be strong again, repair, harden, prevail, TO GET AHOLD OF ONESELF!,take courage, strengthen, to make bold, be firm, and strongly convinced! This is the year like never before for us to ENCOURAGE OURSELVES!
